What is OnTrace Agri-Food Traceability
OnTrace is an industry-led, not-for-profit Corporation formed in response to recommendations from the Ontario On-Farm Safety Strategy. Both industry and government officials championed the formation of OnTrace and today it is the province’s go-to organization on traceability issues.
What is the Mandate of OnTrace?
The mandate of OnTrace is to build and implement a traceability framework for the agriculture and food sectors in Ontario and to co-ordinate with other national, provincial, and commodity initiatives.
Who Runs OnTrace?
OnTrace is governed by a Board of Directors made predominantly of respected industry leaders in the agriculture and food industry, including those from the Ontario livestock, poultry and horticulture sectors. Board Members also include those from the Ontario food processing and retail sectors. OnTrace strives to build and maintain a Board that truly reflects the diversity of Ontario agriculture and food.
How Does OnTrace Benefit Me?
OnTrace’s key objectives are to enable the agriculture and food industry in Ontario to become more innovative and competitive, while strengthening the planning, management and response to emergencies related to agriculture and food welfare and public safety. OnTrace offers a variety of traceability resources to meet these objectives. Services include educational workshops for producers and processors; onsite traceability assessments to help guide those looking to implement or strengthen current traceability practices; and conducting valuable traceability research and pilot projects with industry to improve traceability capacity and practices.
